I try to photograph the way a city holds its people — the gracing of the light, the backdrop of architecture, a scattering of coincidences not knowing they’re a composition. Most of what I make comes from paying attention longer than seems reasonable, whether that means standing at an intersection in November or spending a year inside a theoretical problem that won't resolve.
By day I build research tools at the genetics department of the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG). By temperament I chase hard questions across whatever discipline they hide in — neuroscience, philosophy, statistics, AI.
The deep space astrophotography images were taken with a remote 12” Newtonian telescope (Orion UK CT12L) hosted in Nerpio (Spain) with a ZWO ASI 1600MM Pro imaging camera on a Paramount ME mount. I sold that telescope, so the hobby is on hiatus. My current camera of choice for street photography is the Canon R5 with various manual focus Carl Zeiss ZE lenses.
